A Little Introduction

“The real thing’s haven’t changed, It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with the simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.”

Laura Ingalls Wilder

I love this quote. It really seems to resonate with our life. To “be happy with the simple pleasures”, oh I love that. I truly enjoy our life. I enjoy the solitude and peace, a basic part of life that I think people often take for granted.

Backstory

It hasn’t always been that way. We had our life turned upside down after the birth of our daughter, 4 years ago. She was born very sick, stopped breathing and came close (more times than I can count) to not being with us today. But, God had other plans for her and for us, really. I would be lying if I said, I was a big fan of all his plans. There are things I would love to wave a magic wand and change. That is not the case, and we have to learn to be okay with it. We have to learn to find the positive side of things, more now than ever before. Often times it would seem we would take four steps forward and get knocked back twenty. I think that is the life of most families with a special needs child.

My thoughts when I started this site were, to try and share my basic knowledge of homesteading, and just my insight on life. Not that I have it all figured out, who really does?! Just wanted to reach others, help share this simpler life, in hopes it encourages others to try- if they desire to do so. It is also my outlet.

My hopes with this site are big! I hope to encourage other mothers through my journey. I hope to encourage those who want a simpler life, to go for it! I hope to raise awareness for some causes that are dear to us. I hope to be a light in a dark world.

Also, our family loves our Lord and Savior. He will be mentioned throughout this site, and I will not apologize for that. He is our foundation and without him, we wouldn’t be who we are today.

Those are my goals for this website. I hope you feel every bit of my authenticity, and I hope you stop by often and say hello often!
